Question:

As administrator of this Website, how do I activate my organization's WISCareers account?

Answer:

You should have received a letter with a registration code on it. If you cannot find that letter, call our office at 1-800-442-4612 and we can give it to you over the phone. Once you have your registration code, go to the WISCareers main page and click on Get Started. Enter your registration code and follow the instructions that appear on the screen to fully activate your account.

Question:

How do I get the registration codes that allow students and professionals to setup their individual accounts?

Answer:

If you have not activated your organization's WISCareers account, you must do that first (see the question listed above on how to activate). Assuming your account has been activated, login using your username and password (Note: you must be the administrator of this Website) and click on Administrative Tools from the Professional homepage. Then click on Registration Codes/Personal Info Options. You may want to print this page and keep it in a safe place.

Question:

One of my students forgot his password and username. Is there a way for me to retrieve it for him?

Answer:

Login using your username and password (Note: you must be the administrator of this Website). Click on Tools for the Administrator from the professional homepage, then click on Show/Edit Active student Login Information. Find the student's name in the list and click on the Edit button for that student. His/her username and password will appear on the next page.

MLA (Modern Language Association) style, used in the humanities:

"Accountants." WISCareers. 2007. Wisconsin Careers, Center on Education and Work, University of Wisconsin-Madison. 16 Apr 2007 <http://wiscareers.wisc.edu/>.

Question:

Why are some sections of WISCareers not yet available in Spanish?

Answer:

The goal of the project is to have everything on the WISCareers student/adult site in Spanish. Had we wanted to do this quickly and without concern for the quality of the translation, we would have simply run the content of the site through a software program and posted it as our Spanish translation. However, a good translation requires more than just the push of a button. Our translators carefully edit the translated material, checking not only for grammar, usage, and appropriateness, but also to make sure that the Spanish translation communicates the conceptual meaning of the English original.

The translation project will extend through the 2007-08 school year. We anticipate that the following sections of the site will be released in Spanish at approximately these dates:

September 2007
The 400 most frequently accessed occupations
The Career Interest Snapshot Assessment

October 2007
The Work Values Assessment

November 2007
The remaining 315 full occupations and 474 short representative occupations
The Interest Profiler Assessment and the Wisconsin Career Assessment

Spring 2008
The remainder of Assessments
Education

Summer 2008
Job Seeking
Budgeting

Question:

When will the Spanish translation project be completed?

Our estimated completion date is summer 2008.

Question:

How do I change the page from English to Spanish?

Answer:

The toggle (switch) is located at the top of each page that is available in English and Spanish. Simply click on "en espaņol" or "in English" to change the language. A toggle is also located in the footer. If the page does not have a toggle, then it is not yet available in Spanish.
